Lotteries have introduced a new terminal which will replace all older J6000 and X7000 terminals nationwide.
This new terminal, the Wave8 works similarly to the older terminals, however cabling is crucial and must be connected to the correct ports. Additionally the information in this course only applies to Keno sites.
Although the same terminal is being rolled out to both Keno and Lotteries agent sites, there is a different setup method for Keno sites vs Lotteries sites.
One of the key differences is that for Lotteries sites you will need to be assigned a username and require a code to remotely activate the units. For Keno sites however you simply need to call Patrick (AusDigi), Joe (Keno Ops) or Sylvia (Keno Ops) and they will activate the unit for you.
It is important to not turn the unit on until all cables are connected and you have verified that the data cable to the Cisco router has been tested for connectivity and also plugged into the router.
Please give the unit plenty of time to boot up after turning on, and once it has gone through it’s startup phase then, and only then can you ring to have it activated.
The unit may reboot itself during this process, this is normal. The unit may also sometimes hang during boot – if this occurs, please leave it for 5 minutes to ensure it has definitely times out, and then hard reboot the unit by powering off and then on again.
The customer screen needs to be assembled to face outward towards the customer and should be in a secure and steady place where it cannot be knocked over, and must be easily visible from the customer facing side so customers can read the screen when engaging with counter staff.
Keys are only available by emailing Patrick from AusDigi and are different to all other terminals.
When installing the cables these must be bound neatly to the cable tidy bars at the rear inside the unit prior to closing.
Apart from the above, the unit is reasonably similar to other terminals, apart from the activation process and the rear cabling being vital to ensure it is done correctly before powering up.
